I’ve been to a lot of breweries and taprooms, in a lot of really unique places. Last night was the first time I’ve visited a taproom that resided in a strip mall. Once you enter you’ll find a bar with plenty of beer on tap, tables sprinkled in the center, and booths that line the wall. In the back is a little gift shop where you can purchase beer swag, glassware, and bottles to-go. It wasn’t much to look at, but honestly, you’re going for the beer.
You could have your beer outside on the patio area too, there happened to be a couple people with their dog outside when we were leaving. I love dog friendly patios, not only to bring our dogs to, but it’s just brings such a fun and light atmosphere to see dogs under tables hanging out with their owners.
We ordered beers at the bar and settled in at a booth. They had Abre Qui Donne (barrel aged sours with peach) from 4 different years. We decided to go for the oldest barrel and the newest.
The Abre Qui Donne 2016 was incredibly sour, while the Abre Qui Donne 2019 was incredibly peachy. They drank like completely different beers and it was so fun to try them side-by-side.
Overall it was a relaxing place to have a beer, and I would love to check out the O’so Madhouse next time I’m in Madison. It looks more like what you would expect from a modern day taproom, but I’m sure it serves the same or a similar menu. What would you order at O’so Tap House in Plover, Wisconsin?
