When you find yourself in Eau Claire on a Monday night your options for food are extremely limited, most restaurants are closed for the day. Don’t fret though, because Stella Blues is open and the food is a fun spin on cajun food. They have a good amount of beers on tap too, we definitely enjoyed a couple beers while waiting for our cajun grub.
The menu starts off with a huge range of unique appetizers. We absolutely had to try the Crispy Deviled Eggs (Four deviled eggs, deep fried in rosemary parmesan breading, topped with sliced banana peppers, bacon bits, and cajun seasoning.) Honestly, I’m not a fan of your typical deviled egg, but these were too fun not to try. All of the flavors went really well together, the smokiness of the bacon, the crunch of the banana pepper, the rosemary parmesan breading, and the kick of the cajun seasoning.
We had to get hush puppies as well, it’s something you don’t see on very many Wisconsin menus. They were delicious, and they came in a very generous portion.
I ordered the Jerk Pig sandwich, it featured a mango salsa and jerk seasoned pork. The mango and jerk seasoning went together perfectly, it was topped so high with mango that it was difficult to eat without mango bits falling out.
AJ had the Blackened Catfish and Smashed Potatoes, the cat fish was perfectly cooked and delicious. The potatoes were packed with flavor too. Honestly, if you go to Stella Blues you have to try the catfish.
Make sure to check out Stella Blues if you’re in Eau Claire at 306 E. Madison St., Downtown Eau Claire.
