Somedays you just need a really good cocktail, am I right? Bar 430 in Oshkosh has a great menu, not only when it comes to cocktails, they serve up absolutely stunning food. Bar 430 is the perfect place to settle in for a happy hour with friends. Let’s talk about those drinks first, they have a specialty menu full of specialty old fashioneds, moscow mules, margaritas, mojitos, and other house cocktails. This menu is large and incredibly hard to choose from. Their bourbon blueberry old fashioned ($7 – Four Roses Bourbon, blueberry syrup, and peach bitters) was an absolutely perfect start to the night.
It was difficult to narrow down a couple of appetizers to start with, everything sounds so good. Garlic truffle fries ($8 fries in truffle butter with chives and parmesan served with garlic aioli) were a good place to start, they were perfectly executed and hard to put down. The garlic aioli was basically just a side of mayo, but who can argue with a side of mayo with truffle fries?
We had to try something more unique, so we had curried nachos ($8 – Red pepper, sweet corn, roasted carrot, cherry tomatoes and red onion seasoned with yellow curry.) These were delicious, but extremely difficult to eat. The toppings didn’t have anything to stick to, so it took a lot of effort to scoop some toppings on, you’ll definitely have yellow curried fingers from eating these. The chips themselves were fried to perfection and deliciously crispy, I could eat these chips by themselves anyday, the curry is just a really great added bonus.
The 430 Mac ($11 – classic four cheese macaroni and cheese) was perfectly creamy. The menu didn’t mention types of cheese, but it’s a really good combination. The perfect bowl of comfort food, and exactly what you need after a couple cocktails.
